Charlotte Businesses and Residents to Receive Broadband Service On the Go
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 2007--Clearwire
Corporation (NASDAQ:CLWR) announced today the official launch of its
wireless high-speed Internet access and phone service to the Charlotte
area with the introduction of its next-generation wireless broadband
solution. The service eliminates the confines of traditional cable or
telephone wiring, allowing customers to connect at home, a local
coffeehouse, the office, park or virtually anywhere else in the
Clearwire service area. Charlotte residents and businesses now have
the opportunity to receive a fast, simple, portable, reliable and
affordable alternative to traditional dial-up, cable and DSL.
"Clearwire is changing the way Charlotte consumers connect online
and with one another, by offering an advanced wireless broadband
connection process coupled with portability and great customer
service," said Curtis Heffelfinger, Clearwire's general manager in
Charlotte. "The service will free users from broadband access that are
location-based, allowing residents to access high-speed Internet
wirelessly across the city."
The Clearwire Difference
Clearwire is an ideal solution for anyone in search of portable
high-speed Internet service that is simple to use and reliable. Simply
purchase a modem or a pc card at a local retailer including the
Clearwire kiosk locations at SouthPark Mall or Carolina Place Mall,
Best Buy, Circuit City or online at www.clearwire.com, and within
minutes, Internet access or phone service will be up and running.
Clearwire's next-generation, non-line-of-sight wireless broadband
network solution connects customers through licensed or secured
spectrum. Radio signals are transmitted from a tower to a small,
wireless modem or pc card, which easily connects a user's computer to
the Internet. With its simple plug-and-play installation customers can
be on the Internet within minutes of set up.
In addition to wireless broadband Internet access, Clearwire also
offers Internet phone service. Clearwire Internet Phone Service works
with a customer's existing high-speed Internet access and provides
unlimited local and long-distance calling from a regular telephone.
Charlotte customers can dial family and friends in all 50 states,
Canada and Puerto Rico.
